Gran’s Van

Helping the hidden homeless in Devonport

On any given night, 116,427 people are homeless in Australia, with 1,622 of them in Tasmania alone. Homelessness can happen to anyone, often without warning. Mas Community is proud to support Gran’s Van — an organisation providing assistance to the hidden homeless of Devonport, Tasmania.

No community member left behind

Leaving people vulnerable to chronic unemployment and ill health, homelessness limits people’s capacity to participate in the social and economic life of their community.

Having been in operation for over 10 years, Gran’s Van prepares and delivers thousands of nutritious meals to Devonport’s most disadvantaged, as well as:

  • Hot drinks
  • Clothing
  • Blankets
  • Sleeping bags

By providing filling, hearty meals and other necessities to Devonport’s most at-risk, Gran’s Van has improved the lives of countless people in need. With a focus on human connection, conversation and de-stigmatising homelessness, the organisation helps to contribute to positive structural change – a mission which Mas Community is proud to support.
