Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)

Support services for Indigenous Australians

Mas Community is deeply invested in improving employment and work opportunities for Indigenous Australians.

Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)

Mas Community’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) provides a framework for organisations to support national reconciliation. For over 20 years, Mas has engaged with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to provide training and employment opportunities.

The RAP framework allows us to codify our contribution to reconciliation by:

  • Building and encouraging relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, organisations, and the broader Australian community
  • Fostering and embedding respect for the world’s longest surviving cultures and communities
  • Developing opportunities within our services to improve socio-economic outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities

Our journey towards reconciliation

Mas Community works with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), Group Training Organisations (GTOs) and industry groups to promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ participation in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) system.

The Ngopamuldi Aboriginal Corporation is one of the specialist organisations that Mas engages with to provide support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

We also invest in cultural awareness training for all staff members and have developed stakeholder engagement with organisations that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Mas Community and RAP objectives

The Department of Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business has identified reconciliation priorities which Mas Community wholeheartedly supports. Some of these include:

More jobs and great workplaces for Indigenous Australians

We support the Government’s target of halving the gap in employment outcomes between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians

Foster careers: career development and retention of our Indigenous workforce

We support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees to build on their skills and knowledge to pursue career opportunities

Recruit with ease

We attract talented Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through respectful and inclusive recruitment practice

Increase business with Indigenous Suppliers

We engage with more Indigenous owned and managed businesses in the future.

Mas Community strives to support marginalised members of the community find and keep employment. We aim to address gaps in access and participation in education and employment through our services.
