Mas Mentoring Business

Learning never stops, particularly if you’re running a business. Mentoring Business is a mentorship program helping Tasmanian business people reach their potential.

Are you a small business owner in Tasmania?  The Tasmanian Government’s Department of State Growth supports the Mentoring Business program to provide you with the expert guidance you need to grow.

The program links entrepreneurs with business-savvy mentors from an array of relevant industries to help them grow by:

  • Strengthening their entrepreneurial and innovation capacity
  • Providing advice
  • Giving constructive feedback as needed
  • Sharing experience, industry knowledge and life skills
  • Supporting and guiding the mentee to expand their operations

Mas will match you with a suitable volunteer mentor who will use their experience and networks to help you achieve your goals.

Networking and Matching Events

To supplement the mentoring process and create long-lasting ties between Tasmanian businesspeople, Mentoring Business provides events for both our mentees and mentors.

For our mentors, we provide regular, local networking occasions. These events support our mentors in gathering and talking with each other about the issues they and their mentees face. As many of our mentors are active in the community and business owners themselves, these events provide an excellent opportunity for them to workshop challenges and build connections. With food and drink provided, these events take place several times a year in Hobart, Devonport, and Launceston.

For prospective mentees, Mas Mentoring currently delivers speed-dating style matching activities to match them with suitable mentors. These matching events see a group of 10 mentors and 20 mentees gather to set-up mentoring arrangements. The two groups rotate in meeting each other, with the remaining mentees networking with each other as they wait for their turn. These events are a proven and fun way of creating suitable mentoring relationships, while also fostering stronger ties between Tasmanian entrepreneurs.
