Mas National Continues Long-Term Support as Premium Sponsor for the 2025 Tasmanian Training Awards

Mas National, a proud and long-term supporter of the Tasmanian Training Awards, is excited to announce its continued role as a Premium Sponsor for the 2025 ceremony. This commitment underscores the company’s dedication to fostering education and career development within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Last year, Phoebe Mordecai, Mas National’s First Nations Engagement Advisor in Tasmania, had the privilege of presenting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year Award to Harley Mansell. Harley, a pakana man, was recognized for his outstanding achievements and was later named the runner-up for the 2024 Australian Training Awards in the same category.

Harley’s journey began in 2022 when he was working as a guide with Wukalina Walk. Determined to advance his career, he enrolled in the Certificate III in Guiding Course at TasTAFE in 2023. Despite initial anxieties, Harley found the learning environment to be welcoming and supportive. “Despite feeling anxious about starting the course, he found the environment welcoming, and has proudly put into action what he had learned,” said Skills Tasmania.

The course’s unique approach, which included learning on country, was particularly significant for Harley. This hands-on, culturally relevant education made him a strong advocate for TAFE studies. He began encouraging young community members to invest in their careers and explore their options with the institution. “He says teamwork is an important part of the tours and that guests leave with accurate knowledge and a positive understanding of culture,” added Skills Tasmania.

Harley’s commitment to his culture extended beyond his professional life. He also performed as a dancer at NAIDOC Week events for Aboriginal Support Programs at TasTAFE in nipaluna/Hobart, further enriching the cultural experience for fellow students and staff.

Mas National’s continued sponsorship of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year Award and the Equity Apprentice/Trainee of the Year Award in 2025 is a testament to the company’s long-term partnership with Skills Tasmania and the Awards. “It’s a privilege to celebrate stories like Harley’s and to meet these great students and apprentices who are using their skills to inspire others and make a real difference in their community,” said a spokesperson from Mas National.

As a proud sponsor, Mas National is eagerly looking forward to the 2025 Training Awards season. The company is committed to supporting and celebrating the achievements of First Nations students and apprentices, and it can’t wait to hear the stories of this year’s nominees.
