Tasmania Welcomes 12 New Apprentices: A Step Toward a Skilled and Sustainable Future
Tasmania is stepping up its game in the world of skilled trades! This week, our Mas National Tassie team had the honor of welcoming the Honourable Andrew Giles MP, the Minister for Skills & Training, to celebrate the signing up of 12 new apprentices in Cambridge and Norfolk.
Eleven of these talented individuals are joining TasNetworks, while one is now part of the Corumbene team. Shelby, who will be completing a Certificate IV at the aged care facility, shared her journey, explaining that her decision to pursue VET training was inspired by her volunteering experience. “This training will equip me with the skills I need to build a fulfilling career in the industry,” she said.
Ethan, one of the new apprentices at TasNetworks, echoed the significance of this opportunity. “I chose this business because it’s rooted in Tasmania and gives back to the local community,” he remarked.
Warren Ferrari, our State Manager for Tasmania, expressed his enthusiasm about the diverse backgrounds of the new apprentices. “It’s fantastic to see people from all walks of life taking advantage of the training opportunities available in our state,” he said. “The New Energy Apprenticeships Program is a game-changer, offering additional financial and training support to help these apprentices succeed.”
Warren also highlighted the importance of the Minister, Advisors, Skills Tasmania, and the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations connecting with the apprentices and employers. “It was inspiring to see everyone come together, sharing their experiences and discussing the supports available through our Apprentice Connect Australia Provider contract,” he added. “The Government’s focus on increasing diversity, improving completion rates, and supporting Australia’s transition to a cleaner future is truly commendable.”
