Football, Apprenticeships and Women in Trades
Daniel Grech and Steve Roberts, our Careers experts, attended the inaugural Freestyle – Women in Trades Immersion Night on the 5th December 2022 in Victoria.
Tradeswomen Australia and the North Melbourne FC designed the event to educate women and non-binary people on the benefits of trade careers. They plan to deliver a series of similar events in 2023.
Our duo engaged with many participants who had the opportunity to try real-life tasks in the Mas “Tradie” Trailer. The Trailer is packed with tools to encourage hands-on experiences, such as Plumbing, Electrical and Carpentry.
“We were able to help participants identify appropriate career pathways and organize 1:1 career advice sessions to discuss all things Apprenticeships,” said Steve.
Recently, our Careers Team launched the Girls Can – Trade Up Mentoring program, which offers a wide range of support services to women interested in building a solid trades career.
If you are looking at entering the world of trades or know a person who would be interested, contact our team today.
