Pursuing a career in a male-dominated industry
Scarlett Picket was working in the Office of her Father’s Surveying business, before finding her passion for large mobile equipment. As a result, she decided to take control of her future and began looking for jobs in Adelaide, where she could apply this passion and learn more about the Construction Industry.
Turning that passion into a reality
As an apprentice, she has had the privilege to explore and “test the water’s” in a number of fields. Civil Skills (the Training Provider) added Modules to the program that would allow her to learn more about heavy vehicles.
“We included a range of Mmodules that would lead to the relevant licenses and tickets needed to support Scarlett in the future,” said Amy Reid from Civil Skills.
Since commencing her role at TDC and Certification through Mas, Scarlett has had the opportunity to operate many types of machinery.
“I am lucky. I don’t think I would get the same opportunities in the city. The Team have been amazing in training me on the job,” she said.
