TRAILS (Teamwork, Respect, Attitude, Independence, Life, Skills) is designed to change the direction of at-risk 16–24-year-olds across Adelaide. Lighthouse Youth Projects (LYP) team of professional bike riders and mentors will take participants on a journey of trail construction and bike riding here in the Adelaide foothills. Each day, they will work as a team to build bike trails, care for parklands and maintain bikes – before setting off to hit the jumps and learn tricks as a reward for their effort. Throughout, mentors will challenge negative behaviours and develop participants’ sense of respect, resilience and goals. Along the way, Mas’ facilitators will work to develop their life skills and employability through a range of hands-on lessons, mentoring, training and work exposure – leading to employment and training outcomes.
