When a school-based apprenticeship comes to an unexpected end, it can feel like a major setback. For Year 11 student Jacob, however, the right support helped turn a challenging situation into a new opportunity.

After his placement with a previous employer ended, Jacob reached out to his College Transition and Careers Adviser, Chontel Green, for guidance. Working together with Mas National (Mas), they quickly set about finding a pathway for him to continue his training and complete his Certificate III in Carpentry.

The successful outcome was made possible through a strong collaboration between Hawker College and Mas. Chontel contacted Mas ACT Manager Sue Black, who promptly shared Jacob’s resume with several local employers in her network.

One of those employers was Jackson Roberts, Director of Eifer Pty Ltd. Impressed by Jacob’s application, Jackson invited him for an interview. Following a successful meeting, Jacob was offered a new placement and was able to continue his apprenticeship journey.

Today, Jacob is back on track and progressing towards his qualification with confidence.
