The 2026 Tasmanian Training Awards once again showcased the remarkable people and organisations driving skills development across the state.

For the Mas National (Mas) team, the evening was a chance to celebrate the achievements of valued clients, talented apprentices and trainees, and employers committed to building Tasmania’s future workforce. Looking back on the event, we’re still smiling at the success stories that unfolded throughout the night.

Celebrating Outstanding Individuals

Several individuals connected with Mas received well-deserved recognition across a range of categories.

Baxter Lewis claimed the Apprentice of the Year Award while hosted by Frontline Electrical through NECA. His achievement highlights the value of quality training and workplace support throughout an apprenticeship journey.

Meanwhile, Jessica Burr from GenU received the Vocational Student of the Year Award. Her success demonstrates the opportunities vocational training can create for learners across Tasmania.

In addition, Joshua Forman from Work & Training secured the School-based Apprentice or Trainee of the Year Award. His achievement reflects the growing strength of school-based pathways and the benefits they provide to young people entering the workforce.

Supporting Opportunity and Inclusion

As a proud sponsor, Mas had the privilege of supporting categories that recognise diversity, inclusion and achievement.

This year, Mani Rai from Northern Suburbs Community Centre took home the Equity Apprentice or Trainee of the Year Award. The award celebrates individuals who achieve outstanding results while overcoming barriers to training and employment.

Likewise, Cody Summers received the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year Award. His achievement represents commitment, determination and excellence throughout his training journey.

Supporting these awards remains an important part of Mas’ commitment to creating opportunities and celebrating success across the vocational education and training sector.

Employer and Industry Excellence

The awards also recognised organisations making a significant contribution to workforce development.

TasNetworks earned the Small Training Provider of the Year Award. Mas was proud to support the organisation during its award application process and celebrate its achievement on the night.

Meanwhile, Dentists of Tasmania secured the Small Employer of the Year Award. The recognition highlights the organisation’s commitment to developing skills and supporting career growth.

Another standout winner was Contact Group, which claimed the Large Employer of the Year Award. As a valued Mas client, Contact Group continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to training, employment and workforce development.

A Night Worth Remembering

Looking through the photos reminded us just how much energy, excitement and pride filled the room.

More importantly, the evening highlighted the positive impact that apprentices, trainees, employers and training providers have on communities across Tasmania. Their efforts help strengthen industries, create opportunities and support the next generation of skilled workers.
