You need to look forward to stay in the moment
The historic South Australian Hotel in Mount Gambier, built in 1860, has recently welcomed three new Apprentices to assist with its grand re-opening.
“The fresh new look of the hotel offers a variety of spaces to cater to a wide range of patrons, and the dining experiences are bound to be exceptional,” shared Tarah Marygold, one of our Business Consultant Team Leaders.
Tarah collaborated closely with Luke Stewart from our sister company IntoJobs to support Julian Simmonds in his journey back into the job market.
Julian, who had been unemployed since 2022, initially sought assistance from Intojobs to boost his confidence and develop a career plan to pursue his dream of becoming a Chef. It was during this process that Tarah stepped in and connected Julian with an employer who was eager to offer him an Apprenticeship.
“I am incredibly excited and can’t wait to get started. This opportunity is everything I’ve always wanted,” expressed Julian with enthusiasm.
The new Apprentice will have the privilege of working alongside a colleague who shares the same dream and is embarking on a similar path. Brody McMillian, who had long desired a career change after working as a Mechanic and in the timber industry, now has the opportunity to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a Chef.
“The team at the South Australian Hotel is the perfect fit for me to achieve my career aspirations. They are innovative and a fantastic group of individuals. The creative and fresh ideas that Luke, the Executive Chef, has in mind are truly inspiring, and I can’t wait to begin,” shared Brody.
Adding to the team is Rachel Porter, a Year 11 student who will be undertaking a School-based Apprenticeship in Cookery.
“This is my dream, and I am thrilled to start cooking,” exclaimed Rachel.
Executive Chef Luke is fully prepared to guide and mentor the new Apprentices, equipping them with the necessary skills to build successful careers as chefs in Australia.
“I am dedicated to providing an exceptional workplace that will enable our apprentices to work in any restaurant across the country and hold their own,” he said.
“We aspire for our team to deliver sensational meals that showcase the incredible local produce and highlight our team’s exceptional cooking abilities.”
We extend our best wishes to the new kitchen team at the South Australian Hotel.
